BLITZ RIDDIM (SOCA) – SMASH 2013
Blitz Overview
The carnival jam riddim was born in a lively studio session in 2013. The team behind the project wanted to create a sound that captured the true spirit of carnival. A studio hand played a big role in shaping the creative direction. They encouraged everyone to focus on uplifting rhythms and melodies that would make people move. The riddim came together with a bright, energetic sound designed for both the dance and the festival crowd. Jamesy P brought his signature style to the riddim with the track “Trouble.” He is well known for his hit “Nookie,” which made waves in the soca world. On “Trouble,” Jamesy P’s voice rides the beat with excitement, drawing listeners in from the first note. Skinny Fabulous added his own fire to the project with “Fyah Anthem.” Skinny Fabulous, whose real name is Gamal Doyle, is famous for winning the St. Vincent Soca Monarch title multiple times. His powerful delivery on “Fyah Anthem” gives the riddim a bold, festival energy. Teddy Rhymez joined in with “How Yuh Doin Dat.” His smooth vocals and catchy hooks fit perfectly with the carnival jam riddim. Teddy Rhymez is known for his creative songwriting, and this track showed his ability to keep the party going. When the carnival jam riddim was released, it quickly became a favorite at festivals and parties. Even now, during Carnival flashbacks, DJs still play these tracks.
