Big Up Overview
In 2014, HOR PRODUCTIONS|KATHMANDU PRODUCTIONS brought out a roots reggae riddim that fans still talk about today. The label is known for working with reggae and dancehall artists from around the world, always keeping the roots vibe strong. With this release, they teamed up with producers in both Jamaica and Nepal, showing reggae’s worldwide reach. The riddim features a one drop beat that takes you right back to classic reggae, but with a fresh energy. Artists like Danny Ranks, Thai Stylee, Perfect Giddimani, Elijah Prophet, and Pad Anthony each brought their own style to the project. Danny Ranks is known for his song “Pull It Up,” which stands out for its catchy hook and smooth delivery. Thai Stylee adds his voice on “Full Up,” bringing a new flavor to the riddim. Perfect Giddimani, who made waves with his hit “Hand Cart Bwoy,” delivers “Mama Africa” here—a song that speaks to his roots and message-driven music. Elijah Prophet, respected for his roots reggae sound, gives us “Baby I Do.” Pad Anthony, a veteran in dancehall and reggae, adds “Come A Dancehall,” showing why he’s been a favorite since the 1980s. Other artists on the riddim include Deliman with “Trodding Outta Babylon,” Emiliano on “My Life,” Isiah Mentor’s “Love Life,” Lyrics Factory’s “Crumble,” and Malacai with “Love Award.” This roots drop from 2014 is still loved in reggae circles. It’s a reminder of how strong the culture is when artists and producers from different places come together.
