Big Ride Overview

In 2019, a new soca rhythm started making big waves at Carnival parties. This was the Big Ride Riddim. The journey began on the island of Saint Lucia, where arranger Lashley “Motto” Winter, known for his creative touch, started building the beat. Motto is not just an arranger—he’s also a producer and a soca artist. He runs the Team Foxx label and has made hits like “Party Lit.” His music often brings together different islands and styles, and with Big Ride Riddim, he wanted to capture the wild energy of Carnival. Motto set the tone with his own track, “Motto — Man With Ride.” The riddim’s hypnotic beat and catchy hooks got DJs excited, making them reload the tracks over and over at parties. Other artists soon joined the ride. Big Ride brought his own flavor with “Big Ride — Man With Ride.” Blackboy added his voice on “Blackboy — Big Ride.” Each artist gave the riddim a new twist, but the party energy stayed strong. The lineup grew even bigger with Machel Montano & Team Foxx on “Gih Dem.” Machel Montano is a legend in soca, known for his high-energy performances and hits like “Fast Wine.” On this riddim, he brought even more fire. Nessa Preppy & Team Foxx dropped “Pull Up,” and Salty also delivered his own version of “Pull Up.” Trinidad Ghost & Team Foxx came in with “Big Fish,” while Dev & Team Foxx added “Ochro.” Big Ride Riddim became a Carnival anthem in 2019.
