BIG ISLAND RIDDIM produced by ZJ DYMOND / FULLCHAARGE 2021
Big Island Overview
Big Island Riddim brings the classic sound of roots reggae into a modern era. The track base keeps the traditional reggae structure, with steady drum patterns and deep bass lines. At the same time, it blends in hints of other genres, such as contemporary pop and R&B, through its melodic hooks and smooth harmonies. This mix creates a fresh sound that still respects reggae’s rich history. Each artist on the project brings their own style. Jahzilee & ZJ Dymond perform “People Fed Up,” delivering strong vocals over a solid reggae rhythm. Jahzilee is known for his conscious lyrics, and this song continues that tradition. Heidi Tiffany & ZJ Dymond team up on “Don’t Call Me,” adding a soulful touch that highlights Heidi Tiffany’s vocal range. Answele & ZJ Dymond’s “Give You My All” features Answele, who gained attention with his 2021 single “Everlasting,” which was well-received in the reggae community. Cathy Matete & ZJ Dymond present “You Keep Me Safe,” with Cathy Matete bringing in her award-winning voice; she won the 2019 Pulse Music Video Award for Best Reggae Video in Kenya. The producer, ZJ DYMOND / FULLCHAARGE, is known for his work on several successful reggae and dancehall projects. As the foundation builder, he shapes the sound by keeping the roots reggae style strong while allowing space for modern influences. His label, FULLCHAARGE, has released music that has reached listeners worldwide, helping to spread reggae’s message even further. Together, these artists and the producer create a roots anthology that feels both classic and new, echoing the spirit of 2021 roots reggae.
