Bicycle Frame Riddim Vol2 – Ygf Records

2015 was a busy year for the new-school dancehall lane, and YGF Records’ Bicycle Frame Riddim Vol. 2 sits right in that moment with a lean five-track set and a sharp focus on the voices riding it. The rhythm itself carries that hard, skanking edge you’d expect from mid-2010s Jamaican club music, but there’s enough space in the cut for Kalado to dig into the clean and raw versions of “Contract Killer, ” which gives the project a nice push-pull right at the top. Navino’s “Too Real” keeps the energy taut and direct, while Zagga slides into “When You See Me” with a cooler, more measured tone. Zamunda closes it out on “One Big Road, ” a finish that leaves the riddim sounding clipped, road-ready, and built for sound system play.
