Kheil Stone is a Bronx-based producer who had already been putting out his own instrumental riddims before this one, and Bad Fever sits neatly inside that run of digital dancehall work. The project comes in at around 31 minutes and pairs the vocal cuts with the label’s own instrumental closer.

The riddim itself has that sharp, mid-2010s dancehall bite: lean drums, a propulsive bounce, and a tense, feverish pulse that gives the singers room to ride the pocket without softening it. It feels designed for juggling, with each cut pushing a different angle of the same groove. Assassin opens with “Gossip, ” bringing his clipped, commanding style to a song that sounds built for sound system pressure. Sizzla’s “Mad And Mean” adds a tougher, more militant edge, while Delly Ranx’s “Tek Him” and Red Fox’s “Wicked Inna Bed” lean into the kind of streetwise patter and singjay phrasing that has long been part of their appeal.

The deeper pull of the set is how varied the lineup is without breaking the riddim’s mood.
