BABA BOOM RIDDIM produced by DIGITAL B 1993
Baba Boom Overview
In 1993, reggae fans were introduced to a new roots riddim that would soon echo through dancehalls and radio playlists. The journey began in the creative studios of DIGITAL B, a producer known for shaping the sound of modern reggae. DIGITAL B, whose real name is Bobby Dixon, had already made a name with his label and production work for stars like Shabba Ranks and Garnett Silk. With a knack for blending digital rhythms with roots traditions, he crafted a riddim that was both soulful and energetic. The riddim quickly attracted some of reggae’s most respected voices. Admiral Tibbet delivered “Crush,” a track that highlights his smooth but powerful singing style. Gregory Isaacs, often called the “Cool Ruler,” brought his signature touch to “Close Friends.” Isaacs was already famous worldwide for hits like “Night Nurse,” and his contribution here added depth to the project. Josey Wales, a veteran deejay known for his rapid-fire delivery, energized the set with “Acid.” Mad Cobra, who would later find international fame with the hit “Flex,” brought a fierce edge to “Find And Kill.” Ninja Ford added his own flavor with “Dont Ask Question.” Each artist’s performance gave the riddim a unique character, making it stand out in 1993’s reggae scene. From studio to dancehall, this roots riddim became a lasting part of reggae’s story.
