ANCESTRY RIDDIM (SOCA) – STADIC MUSIC 2015
Ancestry Overview
In early 2015, a group of musicians and producers gathered in the studio to create a new soca sound for Carnival. They wanted to build a track base that would capture the energy of the parade and the spirit of the festival. The creative direction focused on lively rhythms and a smooth groove, blending traditional soca with a fresh twist. The team aimed to make something that would stand out during Carnival, yet feel familiar to fans. The groove was carefully arranged to let each artist shine. Benjai, already well known for his hit "Trini," brought his strong voice and catchy style to the track "Bad No Ras." His presence added power and excitement, helping the riddim reach a wide audience. Danielle added her unique touch with "Like Ah African." Her song celebrated roots and culture, giving the riddim depth and meaning. Renzo joined with "Before Morning," showing his skill in blending melody and rhythm. Renzo is recognized in the soca world for his smooth delivery and creative songwriting. Orlando Octave completed the lineup with "Wine It." Orlando is known for his versatile voice and his work across genres, including his popular track "Single." Together, these songs made the riddim a highlight of Carnival 2015. Fans remember how the music filled the streets, bringing people together to dance and celebrate. The track base became an anthem, with each artist’s song adding a special flavor. Looking back, this project stands as a key moment in soca music, marking an unforgettable Carnival season.
