A LOVE I CAN FEEL RIDDIM produced by BLACK ART 1975
A Love I Can Feel Overview
The new roots anthology brings classic reggae sounds to new listeners. At the center is the “Love I Can Feel Riddim,” a foundation for roots and dub music. This riddim is important in sound system culture. Sound systems use the dub version to create energy, letting selectors and DJs mix and play with echo and bass. Dub cuts like these are still played at dances today, keeping the roots tradition alive. The producer known as BLACK ART, also called Lee “Scratch” Perry, is a legend in reggae music. His Black Art label became famous for experimental sounds and deep rhythms in the 1970s. Perry’s work with his Black Ark studio changed the way reggae and dub were made. He produced many famous tracks and worked with top artists, making a big impact on reggae’s sound. On this anthology, Cornell Campbell sings “Love I Can Feel Riddim - Give Your Love To Me.” Campbell is known for his sweet voice and hits like “Queen of the Minstrel.” Dennis Alcaponejohn Holt brings “A Love I Can Feel,” and Dennis Brown performs “Love I Can Feel.” Brown is often called the “Crown Prince of Reggae” and had chart success with songs like “Money in My Pocket.” John Holt gives his take on “A Love I Can Feel Riddim.” Leroy Smart sings “Talk Bout Friend.” Prince Jazzbo delivers “Straight To I Roy Head.” These artists and songs help roots reggae stay strong in today’s culture.
