5d Riddim – Sf Movement

2013 was a busy, muscle-memory year for dancehall, and 5D Riddim lands right in that pocket with SF Movement keeping the sound lean and streetwise. The set is credited with seven tracks and seven unique artists, which already tells you this wasn’t meant as a bloated compilation but a tight round of voicings around one rhythm. Cilon opens with “One More Time, ” while Dilly Chris turns up twice with “Me Know You Waa Me, ” a sign the producer was happy to let a single voice carry more than one angle on the same pattern. Dejavu’s “Tec Da Touch Ya” and the Popeye Caution/Whitey combination cut add some grit to the middle, and the sequencing stays focused enough to make the final stretch feel deliberate rather than random.
