21 Greatness Riddim – Innovation Muzik

Innovation Muzik’s 21 Greatness Riddim came through in early 2021 as the first major production from the Chicago-based team of The Notorious DJ Kool G and DJ Matches. The pair had already spent years in radio and selectors’ culture, and this set feels like a statement of intent: roots-minded reggae with a modern digital polish, cut to carry a message of uplift rather than mere juggling noise.

The rhythm sits in a measured mid-tempo pocket, steady and spacious, with enough bounce for singers to ride it without crowding the arrangement. Tarrus Riley’s Be Great is the anchor, built around a self-affirming Black history message that sets the tone for the whole package. Queen Ifrica follows with Bleed Out, a sharper, more confrontational cut that matches her reputation for straight-talking social commentary. Luciano’s Cover Me brings the familiar warmth and spiritual gravity he has long made his own, while Nature Ellis adds a seasoned, grounded touch on Let Them Talk.

Elsewhere, Gott Yo’s Never Leave My Side and Chris Wynter’s Higher Level keep the focus on perseverance, faith, and personal elevation. Qualiti and Marvellous Bellousk’s The System widens the frame with a more direct critique of how things are run, and Jessemine’s Call On Me rounds out the set with a softer, devotional note.
