Wishing Well Riddim – Prince Villa

Prince Villa keeps this one taut and clipped, with a bright dancehall pulse that leaves plenty of room for the voices to jab and parry. Almidon’s title cut sets the tone, but the sharper turns come from Dotta Coppa on “Gone Wid Yuh Marrow” and Mr. Lexx on “Chat Chat Chat, ” both riding the rhythm with that mix of cheek and menace that makes a good sound-system tune stick. Nitty Kutchie’s “Flush and Rush” pushes the project a little harder too, especially in its radio edit, where the hooks land fast and clean. Prince Villa even closes the set with the instrumental, which feels less like a bonus and more like a quick reminder of how tightly this 2017 riddim was cut.
