Leaderz Riddim – Konquerin Soundz

Konquerin Soundz’ Leaderz Riddim came out of the UK roots-and-soundsystem corner with a tidy six-track set that leans on message music rather than flash, pairing Gappy Ranks’ “Conquering Lion” with sharp cuts from Da Fuchaman, YT, Tenna Star, Mowty Mahlyka and Blackout JA. It was the crew’s second riddim release, following The Four Corners Riddim in 2016, and you can hear that same vinyl-minded approach in the way the production leaves room for the voices while keeping the foundation firm and militant. Gappy Ranks feels like the anchor here, but Da Fuchaman’s “So Called Leaders” and Blackout JA’s “No Justice” push the social commentary just as hard. For Konquerin Soundz, it’s a neat snapshot of where they were in 2017: rooted, vocal-heavy, and aimed squarely at the sound system set.
