Horse One Riddim – Kuru Estudio

From the Spanish-language dancehall corner of 2017, Horse One Riddim finds Kuru Estudio lining up a full dozen voicings, with Evokando, Razzal, General Fyah and Jahia Uncan among the names cutting through the set. The tracks all sit on the same compact 2: 50 framework, which keeps the whole thing moving with a tight, no-frills pulse rather than stretching out into long versions or dub edits. “Rebel Music” from General Fyah and “Murders Of Babylon” by Razzal sit near the sharp end of the sequence, while the repeated roots-conscious themes—Jah, Babylon, material things, rebellion—give the riddim a clear message even when the styles shift from chant to singjay. Horse One Riddim runs 12 tracks and was issued in February 2017.
