Legal Overview
In 2007, the Legal Riddim dub release made a big mark on reggae music, especially in DJ sets and dancehalls. This project came out of Jamaica, bringing together a strong lineup of artists and a classic roots sound. Anthony B delivered "Good Life," adding his signature energy. He is well known for his hit "Fire Pon Rome" and has long been a voice for conscious reggae. Daville brought a smooth touch with "In My Arms." Daville is famous for his chart-topping single "Always on My Mind," which showed his skill at blending reggae and R&B. Gentleman, a popular German reggae artist, contributed "Serenity." Gentleman is recognized for his album "Confidence," which reached number one on the German charts. Hawk’s "Too Many Garrisson," Lukie D’s "Hide In Your Eyes," Morgan Heritage’s "Why Feat. Laza," and tracks from Laza, Natural Black, Nicky B, and Norrisman all added variety and depth to the riddim. The roots craftsman behind the release was RENAISSANCE RECORDS. This label is known for shaping the sound of modern dancehall and reggae, with a history of working with top Jamaican artists and helping to launch several international hits. With its warm, vinyl-inspired sound and conscious lyrics, the Legal Riddim dub kept reggae’s spirit and message alive in 2007, becoming a favorite for selectors and fans alike.
