Tenament Yard Riddim (2002) – Diamond Rush

A greasy, mid-tempo reggae juggle with a dry, steppers edge, Tenament Yard carries that early-2000s sound where the bassline does the heavy lifting and the vocals sit right in the pocket. Diamond Rush lines up ten cuts here, and the strongest pull comes from the way voices like Anthony B, Capleton and Luciano each angle the same groove differently: Anthony B’s “Naw Vote” leans into conscious uplift, while Capleton and Luciano keep the fire and reasoning flowing without crowding the riddim. Lady Saw’s “Ooh Yeah” and Bling Dawg’s “All Night Party” add a sharper, more street-level turn, giving the project a little extra movement between the heavier messages. It’s a tidy 2002 set, with Lisa Dainjah and Anthony John adding a couple of deeper catalogue cuts.
