Zinc Shack Riddim

Zinc Shack Riddim sits a little sparer than a lot of late-2000s reggae one-riddim sets, with just four cuts and a tight little roster led by Turbulence and Lutan Fyah. The Tracklist production keeps the focus on the groove: a dry, mid-tempo drum pattern, a weighty bassline, and just enough instrumental detail to give the singers room without dressing the rhythm up too much. Turbulence’s “Give Thanksa” leans into his gruffer uplift, while Lutan Fyah’s “Grounds” brings the cleanest roots touch on the set. Leetal’s “Watch We” and Terminal Dg’s “Zinc Shop” fill out the frame without crowding it, which is part of the charm here. It’s a compact 2009 roots exercise, anchored by that steady bass pulse and the kind of restrained skank that keeps the whole thing moving.
