Worries Riddim – Keepleft Records

A dry, mid-tempo dancehall groove with a lean bassline and that early-2010s digital snap is what drives Worries Riddim, and Keepleft Records keeps the arrangement spare enough for the voices to carry the weight. Leftside’s “Dem A Worry” leans into the slack talk side of the tune, while Kiprich counters with the sharper, more melodic “Gyal A Me, ” the two radio/raw cuts giving the set a little extra bite. Ck’s “I Wanna Be Down” and Kim’s “Nuh Behavior” widen the mood without breaking the riddim’s tough, street-level pulse, and the instrumental closes it out cleanly. Released in March 2014 and credited to Craig “Leftside” Parks, the project sits right in that period when stripped-down dancehall riddims were again favoring punch, personality, and quick-hit replay value over heavy studio polish.
