“World Boss Riddim” keeps the focus tight: just five cuts, with Tommy Lee Sparta’s “It Happen Yearly” doing the heavy lifting and even earning a radio edit alongside it. The tune has that snarling, street-level energy Tommy Lee has made his own, while Baby Lawd’s “Change The Weather, ” Ice Cold’s “Mad and Mean, ” and Sashique’s “Mongrel Vomit” keep the dark dancehall pressure rolling across the set. Silver Birds Records didn’t overpack the project, and that’s part of the appeal — it sits neatly beside the label’s other hard-edged 2018 dancehall work, including the “World Star” era, with a lean, no-frills approach that leaves room for the title track to cut through.
