Wicked Witch Riddim – Various Artists

“Wicked Witch” is a sharp little 2006 dancehall juggling with a spooky title but a straight-up bashment pulse. Bounty Killer’s “Burn Up” and Sizzla’s “Just As Bad” anchor the set, while Junior Gong’s “The Dreaful” and the Predator/Mavado combination on “Take Way” give it a nice spread of styles and voices. The sequencing keeps the energy moving, then drops into the version cut at the end, which lets the riddim breathe on its own. Tok’s “Big Up” and Bling Dawg’s return to “Burn Up” round out the eight-track lineup, and the list also includes an uncredited “Unknown Artist” cut simply tagged “Wicked Witch. ”
