VAGINA RIDDIM was produced and arranged by Lloyd James Jr. for JOHN JOHN RECORDS x AWEFUL MUSIC in 1999/2000
Vagina Overview
In 2000, some of dancehall’s top artists came together on a lively compilation that quickly became a favorite in parties. Alley Cat, known for his energetic style, brought the track "Show It Off." Lady Saw, often called the Queen of Dancehall and famous for her hit "Sycamore Tree," made her mark with "Go." Lexxus Kiprich and Wayne Marshal teamed up for "Lashy Beware," adding even more excitement to the mix. Madd Cobra, who scored a Billboard Hot 100 hit with "Flex" in the 1990s, added "Ah Murder." Vegas, famous for his song "Heads High," contributed "Nice It Up." Other standout tracks on the riddim included "Mek It Go So Den" by Sean Paul, "Pum Pum Fat" by Spragga Benz, "Vagina" by Ward 21, "Dead Serious" by Wayne Wonder, and "Nuff Ah Dem" by Frisco Kid. The sound system cut was produced by the well-known duo Steely & Clevie, who are recognized for shaping the digital dancehall sound since the late 1980s. This collection of songs used the same infectious riddim, letting each artist put their own twist on it. The result was a set of tracks that kept dancehall fans moving and made the riddim a must-play at parties throughout 2000. The energy and creativity from these artists helped make it a classic dancehall moment.
