Too Hot Riddim – Street Rockaz Family

Street Rockaz Family have been keeping their name in circulation with a run of roots-minded one-riddim projects out of Paris, and Too Hot fits neatly into that catalogue. The label itself is a French reggae imprint, and this release lands in October 2024, even if it was later filed in 2026 collections. The rhythm is a sharp, vocal-friendly piece with a familiar roots pulse, and the instrumental nods back to Studio One’s Babatunde line while giving it a cleaner, more contemporary mix and a slightly tougher edge. It feels like music made for sound system play as much as headphones: direct drum work, a warm bassline, and enough space for the singers to stretch out without clutter.

Only two artists voice the riddim, but they make the most of the room. Stranjah Miller, a Clarendon-born Jamaican singjay known for his modern roots delivery and sturdy baritone, brings the title cut Too Hot with the kind of militant clarity that suits the production. King Lorenzo, the Jamaican singer also known as Nereus Joseph, answers with On A Mission, and his cut carries a more reflective, purpose-driven tone. He has long been associated with conscious and lover’s reggae, and that flexibility helps him ride a rhythm like this without forcing the mood.

What makes Too Hot interesting is how disciplined it is. There is no filler, no attempt to overload the juggling with extra voices, and that restraint gives the two songs more weight. Stranjah Miller supplies the harder statement; King Lorenzo brings the uplift. The version closes the circle in proper riddim style, and the whole thing feels like Street Rockaz Family choosing substance over quantity, which is often where their best work lands.
