Shy Shy Records was already leaning into sharp, street-level dancehall by the time Thunderstorm dropped in 2001, and this one keeps that pressure on with a heavyweight roll call of Spragga Benz, Beenie Man, Shabba Ranks, Mr Lexx and Kiprich. The cut selection feels built for sound-clash energy: Spragga’s “Spin Yu Roll” and “Dead Bout Ya” bring the rough-edged talk, while Beenie Man’s “Mi Know Mi Self” and Shabba’s “Money Is A Muss” give the riddim its proper star power. Compared with Shy Shy’s earlier crossover-leaning work like the Shag-A-Delic era, Thunderstorm feels harder and more direct, less glossy, more geared toward deejays and selector business.
