Four tracks, four different voices, and a tidy little soca set that gets straight to the point. The Showcase Riddim, produced by LVT Productions, arrived in 2017 and keeps the focus on compact, singer-led cuts rather than overloading the listener with extras. Explainer opens with “Soca Identity, ” Lord Nelson follows with “Sugar Mammy, ” and Mr. King’s “Legacy Music” gives the project its strongest sense of continuity before LVT close things out with the instrumental. At just 14 minutes, it feels arranged like a proper presentation piece, with the vocal tunes sequenced so the instrumental lands at the end and leaves the rhythm hanging in the air.
