The Love Bug Riddim (2017) – Fryktion Muzik

Coming out of the 2017 soca season, The Love Bug Riddim finds Fryktion Muzik leaning into a compact, hooky set of six cuts that keeps the pace bright and the arrangements tight. Beenie Man’s “Gyal Yuh Bad” brings the unmistakable crossover swagger, while Patrice Roberts on “All Of It” adds the kind of sweet, melodic pull that sits well against Problem Child’s cheekier “For Forever. ” Dymez and Da Pixel, Pternsky and Terron fill out the package without crowding it, and the whole thing runs like a quick Carnival-ready spin, just over 20 minutes if you’re counting. There’s a nice little contrast in the tracklist, too, between the veteran name value and the newer voices.
