2012 was a busy year for dancehall riddims that leaned on clean, club-ready arrangements, and Birch Hill Production’s The King Riddim sits right in that lane with a sharp, uptempo bounce and plenty of room for melody. I-Octane’s “Still Naah Run” gives it an early jolt, while Alaine’s “Us Against the World” and Agent Sasco’s “My Own” pull the rhythm into more reflective territory without softening the edge. Voicemail’s “Cute and Ukubit” and Mr. G and Chico’s “Bad Like We” keep the energy bright and playful, so the set never settles into one mood for long. The final stretch lands on Liquid’s “Ketch Di Light, ” and the instrumental underneath the whole package keeps that fast, forward-driving feel that made the riddim easy to move on.
