Tambourine Riddim sits in that 2008 dancehall moment when a producer-led rhythm project could still be packed with personality, and this one leans into the names around it rather than any single superstar headline. Eve’s “Tambourine” is the obvious pull, but the set also finds sharper edges with Beniton The Menace on “Hiv Negative” and Eloquent on “Tonite, ” while Loaded and Chaly Blacks keep the energy moving in a more street-level lane. There’s a nice percussive snap to the whole thing, and the title itself feels less like decoration than a clue to the groove at the center of it. Even with only seven cuts, the sequencing feels deliberate: one lead track, then a run of voices that keep shifting the mood without letting the riddim lose its bounce.
