Take A Trip Riddim – Unknown Label

Niney The Observer produced this 1974 Take A Trip riddim for Unknown Label, a tight three-track set led by Dennis Brown’s Take A Trip and backed by the Dennis Brown and I-Roy combination cut Take A Trip and Fresh And Clean, with I-Roy also handling Fresh And Clean on its own. It’s a compact early-70s roots session with only two vocalists across the whole lineup, and that lean setup gives the rhythm plenty of room to breathe. Dennis Brown was already deep into one of his strongest creative periods by then, and I-Roy’s presence adds the kind of sharp deejay contrast that made these Observer productions so memorable.
