Sunshine Riddim – UPT 007 Records

Sunshine Riddim runs a little smoother and sweeter than the tougher 2009 dancehall sets UPT 007 Records was part of at the time, leaning into a breezy, mid-tempo reggae feel with a clean bassline and a bright, radio-friendly swing. Alaine’s “So Simple” and Gyptian’s “Complete Me” sit nicely at the center of it, while Peetah Morgan’s “Be Mindfull” adds a more roots-leaning touch and Voicemail keep the energy up on “Be There For You. ” The cut with Supahype and Marcy Chin gives the package a bit more edge without breaking the mood. There’s a neat balance here between lovers-rock warmth and contemporary reggae polish, and the rhythm stays open enough for each vocalist to shape their own angle before Voicemail close it out with “Be There For You, ” which leaves the whole thing feeling tidy and purposeful.
