Sunrise heat. Y-Not Productions keeps this 2017 set leaning hard into paper-chase talk and streetwise dancehall bravado, with Jami Dread’s “Paper Chase, ” King Youth’s “Nah Guh Skylark, ” and Xt’s “Hustle Fi Di Paper” giving the riddim its sharper edge before the mood turns more combative on King Tappa’s “Mash Up Di Place. ” There’s a nice bit of variety in the line-up too, as Monsieur Lezard comes through in French on “Comme Un Chien Dans Un Jeu De, ” while Maylan Manaza’s “Eden” and Blakk Jah’s “Give It To Me” keep the energy moving without losing the forward-leaning pulse. The production has that clean, open-air bounce that suits hustler lyrics and party-shelling equally well, and Blakk Jah’s closer leaves the strongest imprint with its direct, no-frills chant.
