Stress Riddim (2002) – Jah Hi Ya Records

Jah Hi Ya Records’ 2002 Stress Riddim comes in lean and pointed, with Ras Leon steering a three-track set that leaves plenty of room for the vocal cuts to carry the weight. Manuel Stain’s “Stress” sits right at the center of it, while the instrumental version keeps the mood stripped back and tense, almost like the riddim itself is pacing the room. Sugar Black and Lehbanchuleh’s “Some People” brings the strongest contrast, loosening the pressure with a more conversational roots move and giving the project its most memorable lift.
