Strange Things Riddim (2009) – Mafia And Fluxy

Mafia and Fluxy keep this one firmly in one-drop territory, but it’s the voices that make Strange Things Riddim linger: John Holt’s “Strange Things” sets the tone with that seasoned, heavyweight calm, then Sizzla’s “Revolution” and Chezidek’s “Bun Di Ganja” push the cut into sharper, more militant corners. The set runs like a little snapshot of late-2000s roots consciousness, with Junior Kelly, Lutan Fyah and Trinity all finding their own angle on the same rhythm bed, while Sena and Ras Mc Bean add a final lift on “Travelling So. ” The production ties back to the old-school muscle of Mafia and Fluxy, and that instrumental at the end feels like a quiet nod to the session players behind it.
