STAYCATION RIDDIM produced by XPLICITMEVON 2021
Staycation Overview
The Staycation Riddim came together in a lively studio session in 2021, when island musicians and producers gathered to create a new carnival jam. The band leader had a clear vision: to capture the bright, joyful side of soca music and bring people together after a challenging year. The creative direction was all about celebration, unity, and the classic energy of Caribbean festivals. Producer XplicitMevon played a key role. Known for his work in the soca and dancehall scenes, XplicitMevon has produced for several rising artists and has gained attention for his energetic productions and collaborations. He is also known for his work with the DEPH Universe label, which has helped push new soca sounds to a wider audience. The Staycation Riddim features a strong lineup of artists. College Boy Jesse, XplicitMevon, and DEPH Universe joined forces on "Catching Up," a song full of bright melodies and party vibes. College Boy Jesse is well known in Trinidad and Tobago, especially after winning the 2020 Soca Monarch title with "Happy Song." DEPH Universe, Blaxx brought their talents together on "Doux Doux." Blaxx, a respected soca singer, is famous for hits like "Leh Go" and "Hulk." Lil Bitts, XplicitMevon, and DEPH Universe delivered "Pledge," while Turner, XplicitMevon, and DEPH Universe performed "I'm a Man." The riddim also includes an instrumental version by XplicitMevon and DEPH Universe. For island fans, 2021 is closely linked to this carnival jam riddim. The Staycation Riddim stands out as a true celebration of soca’s spirit, bringing together top talent and festive energy in every song.
