SLOW BUNX RIDDIM MIX – KICK DEM RECORDS 2016
Slow Bunx Overview
The journey of the Slow Bunx Riddim began in the heart of Jamaica’s dancehall scene. Bashment arranger Kadeem “Kaddi” Williams wanted to create a riddim that blended hardcore dancehall vibes with hooks that stick in your mind. Working closely with his team, he crafted a beat that was both sharp and smooth, a sound that would get dancers moving as soon as it dropped. As the riddim took shape, it attracted some of the most energetic voices in dancehall. Jah Vinci was first to voice his track. His song, “You Love Me,” brought his signature melodic style, known from hits like “Wipe Those Tears.” Munga followed with “Hard Touch,” giving the riddim a rugged edge. Jedani’s “Weak Spot” added a playful touch, while Vershon came in strong with “Call Mi Name,” building on his growing reputation from songs like “Inna Real Life.” Beenie Man, often called the “King of Dancehall” and a Grammy Award winner for his album “Art & Life,” joined the project with “What’s Love.” His presence added star power and history to the riddim. The release of Slow Bunx Riddim in 2019 quickly made waves. Fans and selectors praised its mix of tough energy and catchy hooks. Many agreed it defined the bashment sound of that year, filling clubs and parties across Jamaica and beyond. The riddim’s journey from a studio idea to a dancefloor anthem shows how creative teamwork can shape the sound of an era.
