Size 12 Riddim was produced by M. Johnson for Black Scorpio Recording Studio in 1996.
Size 12 Overview
Back in 1996, the bashment flow was everywhere in dancehall. In the studio, the vibe was electric. Musicians and singers worked together, building up the rhythm piece by piece. The bashment arranger made sure the beat was strong and the energy stayed high. This style was all about heavy bass, fast drums, and catchy hooks. Every artist brought their own style, but the arranger kept everything tight and moving. Producer M. Johnson was behind the controls at Black Scorpio Recording Studio. Black Scorpio was already known for big dancehall hits in the 1980s and 1990s. M. Johnson had a reputation for getting the best out of artists, and his productions often made it onto sound systems all over Jamaica. On this session, Frisco Kid delivered “Mek Dem Talk,” showing off his unique flow. LT Stitchie followed with “Mr. Galimore,” bringing his trademark storytelling style. Mega B’s “Good Luck Medal” kept the energy strong. Paul Elliot gave fans “Rude Boy Nuh Stray,” a song that fit perfectly with the rough and ready bashment sound. The session also featured Pinchers alongside Mega Banton with “Hill & Gully Ride,” a tune that reminded everyone of Pinchers’ earlier success with “Bandelero” in the late 1980s. Fans still talk about this 1996 yard session. The bashment riddim, the artists, and the studio magic all came together to create a dancehall classic.
