Shenbeng Riddim – Hotta Riddims

Shenbeng comes in lean and dubby, with Hotta Riddims keeping the whole thing on a tight four-cut frame and letting the groove do the talking. Hotta Henne’s title cut sets the mood first, then Tenor Youthman’s “Give Dem Di Eye” pushes the energy a little higher, while Tonto Addi gets the sharpest run here with “Bad Sound Fe Dem” and “Police” sounding like a clean one-two from the same militant corner. There’s a nice push and pull between the cooler dub pressure and the more direct vocal tunes, and that balance is what gives the riddim its character, especially as the 2018 release lands with just three voices across the set.
