Hashoil Riddim – Skunga Records

Hashoil Riddim has that smoky, herb-laced reggae feel that hangs on a loose groove and a bit of dubby haze. Skunga Records keeps the juggling tight across five cuts, and Ijah Reece’s “Eye Of A Storm” gives the set its strongest contrast, riding the same pressure as Hoopa Jan’s “First Ganja Fest” but with a colder, more searching edge. Natty Knox and Shemmo lean into the weed-conscious theme without turning it flat, while Med Dread’s “Brewing Of The Oil (Melodica)” adds a nice little instrumental turn at the end. It’s a compact 2018 run, just five tunes, but the sequencing gives it a proper session feel.
