Shaolin Overview

Back in 1995, dancehall music was changing fast, and the bashment arrangers were leading the way. Their work gave riddims a fresh, lively sound that made people want to dance. One of the big names in production at that time was ROOF INTERNATIONAL. This label, started by Courtney Cole in the late 1980s, became known for working with many top artists and for releasing some classic dancehall tracks. ROOF INTERNATIONAL helped push the sound of the streets into the spotlight. On the Shaolin Riddim, two artists stood out: Future Troubles and Little Hero. Future Troubles brought energy to the riddim with his track "Return To Shaolin." He is well known for his hit song "Mi Nah Go Switch," which made a big mark in the dancehall scene. Little Hero added his own style with "Tek Life Serious." Little Hero is respected for his positive lyrics and later found big success with his album "Revelation," which reached number one on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart in 2007. DJs loved the Shaolin Riddim and played it at dances all over Jamaica in 1995. The beat and the songs made people move, and the music still brings back memories for many fans.
