SEXY ROOSTER RIDDIM produced by JAHMENTO RECORDS 1995
Sexy Rooster Overview
In 1995, a group of talented dancehall artists came together in the studio to record over a new riddim that would soon become a favorite for selectors. The creative direction behind the project was to capture the energy of street dances and the bold style of the mid-90s. The riddim’s architect designed a lively, modern sound that invited artists to bring their best. The producer, JAHMENTO RECORDS, was already known in Jamaica for releasing popular dancehall tracks. The label had a reputation for working with rising and established artists, helping to shape the sound of the era. With "Sexy Rooster," JAHMENTO RECORDS added another strong riddim to their catalog, earning respect in the dancehall scene. Each artist brought their own flavor to the project. Glamour Murphy delivered the energetic "Proceed," showing his style and presence on the mic. Beenie Man, who was already making waves with hits like "Who Am I," contributed "Can't Borrow So," adding his signature lyrical flow. Papa Beeto gave fans the catchy "Red Card," while Simpleton, known for his 1992 hit "Coca Cola Shape," performed "Let Left Jamaica." Dirty Berty, also known as Dirty Bertie, offered the bold "Heathen Child." Sample, also called Goofy or Mr G, rounded out the set with "No Worry." In 1995, this dancehall set played at street dances across Jamaica, giving partygoers a taste of the freshest sounds and keeping the dance floors moving.
