Senorita Riddim – Kingstone Records

Kingstone Records usually had a sharper dancehall edge, so Senorita Riddim feels a little playful by comparison, with a bright, Latin-leaning bounce that suits the title and the Spanish-tinged hooks running through the set. Cecile’s “Shake Your Ass” is the obvious pull, especially the club edit, while Buccaneer’s “Classical Party” and Daddy Maza’s “El Tic” keep the vibe moving with cheeky, party-first energy. The line-up also leans into crossover curiosity, with Benni Blanko, Bruce Barron, Lazy Youth and even Mustafa Sandal with Gentleman folding into the rhythm’s call-and-response feel. By the time you get to Red Rat, the project has settled into a brisk, compact 2005 dancehall package rather than a sprawling compilation, and the instrumental underneath it all keeps that sunlit, percussive swing intact.
