Sane Kry hits as a crisp, conscious roots cut from 2006, with V. I. Connection Records lining up nine voices over the same heady groove. The sequence keeps things moving nicely: Army’s “Keep Pulling At My Heart, ” Avaran’s “Rumble Jumble Life, ” and Danny Dread’s title tune sit alongside the deeper island-rooted cuts from Danny I, Nuyo Rah, Pressure, Sistah Joyce, and Xkaliba, while Disciples Riddim Section tuck in a dub version to break up the vocal run. That Virgin Islands connection runs through the whole project, which fits the label’s early reputation for linking French production with VI artists and singers. Sane Kry Riddim was the first release from Neeko and company, and it came out with nine tracks in all.
