Rocky Music Riddim from Taxi Productions is a lean 1983 Sly and Robbie set with just two cuts, pairing Sly Dunbar, Robbie Shakespeare and The Taxi Gang on Music Dub with Struggle’s Rocky Music. The rhythm has that tight early-’80s Taxi feel, all crisp drum and bass pressure with plenty of dub space, and it fits neatly into the period when Sly and Robbie were shaping some of the most distinctive modern reggae production. With only a pair of tracks, the release keeps its identity focused on the interplay between the Taxi Gang’s instrumental version and Struggle’s vocal take.
