By the time Zion High Productions put out Red Razor in 2007, the label was already leaning into conscious reggae with a deep cast of roots voices, and this one lands as a big one-drop showcase rather than a throwaway juggling. The cut runs warm and steady, with that springy late-2000s roots feel: enough bass weight to move, but plenty of space for the singers to stretch out their messages. Everton Blender’s “Goody Goody, ” Freddie McGregor’s “Take Your Time, ” and Luciano’s “Buela Land” set the tone early, while Lutan Fyah, Vaughn Benjamin, and Natty King keep the pressure on with sharper, more militant turns.
