TJ Records’ Red Plate Riddim arrived in 2016 as a clean, mid-tempo dancehall juggling built around a heavy E-minor pulse at 100 BPM. Linton “TJ” White has long been one of the scene’s more reliable riddim makers, working the tradition of one rhythm carrying multiple voices, and this set sits neatly in that lane with a taut, modern feel rather than anything overly polished or glossy.

The lineup is strong and varied: I-Octane on “Gal Yuh Body Good, ” Mavado on “What U Gonna Do, ” Masicka on “Weak Fence, ” Vershon on “More Money, ” Negus on “Wise Medz, ” Joe Lazer on “We Nuh Play, ” and the instrumental itself. The release also turned up with a couple of extra cuts in circulation, including Sean Paul’s “Kramp Up” and Vybz Kartel’s “Half Way, ” which speak to how widely the rhythm travelled. The main sequence, though, keeps its grip through straight-line drums, a dark synth bed, and enough space for each voice to cut through clearly.

The best moments are the ones that hit the riddim from different angles. Mavado and Masicka bring the sharper street edge, Vershon gives the project its hustler’s backbone, and I-Octane adds a smoother, more melodic lift. Joe Lazer and Negus deepen the set with lesser-known voices that help the riddim feel like a proper juggling rather than a star cameo run. It is the kind of TJ release that works because the rhythm is strong enough to hold both big names and fresh energy without losing its shape.
