Raw Moon Riddim – Master Kat Productions

Somewhere in the 2008 reggae shuffle, Raw Moon Riddim came through with that warm, rootsy bounce Master Kat Productions seemed to favor, and the cast gives it a nice cross-section of voices. Cocoa Tea’s title cut sits right at the center of it, with Lutan Fyah’s “Mama Don’t Cry” and Mad Cobra’s “My Girl” adding sharper edges around the softer singers like Heather Cummings and Nickiesha Barnes. Anthony Cruz opens things up with “Let It Burn, ” while Jr. Pinchers and Bryan Art keep the pace moving without crowding the groove. It’s the kind of one-riddim set that feels stitched together for selectors rather than casual skimming, with Torch even sneaking in two turns at the mic near the end. A tidy 16-track run, and it still sounds like a session worth dusting off.
