Quick Shift Riddim – Swiff Musik

Quick Shift Riddim arrived in July 2021 from Swiff Musik, a dancehall production outfit that pushed the riddim out as a full juggling project rather than a lone single. The set is 14 tracks deep and sits in that modern dancehall pocket where the drum pattern stays nimble, the bassline keeps moving, and the whole thing leaves room for personalities to cut through. It is less about lush layering than about pace, bounce, and clean spacing.

Bounty Killer and Marlon Binns give the riddim its biggest-name moment on “Going, ” which adds weight and veteran attitude to the project. Lutan Fyah’s “Aristocrat” brings a more conscious, roots-adjacent tone into the mix, while Angel Doolas on “No Use” sounds right at home in the sharper, street-level dancehall energy that has defined much of his work. Singing Sweet’s “Badmind People, ” with x tinue, gives the riddim one of its more direct badmind-chasing cuts, and Maestro Don’s “Space Run” and Machine Lawd Gad’s “Diamond Chips” help flesh out the younger side of the lineup.

The roster also includes Aktive Gad, Azkella, Booba Starr, Dayvizit, Floyd West, Kimico, Model Million, and Singer J, which gives the release a broad yard-to-sound-system feel. Quick Shift Riddim works best as a fast-moving selector’s tool: bright enough for radio, tough enough for the dance, and sturdy enough that the voices each land with their own angle.
