The Quater Riddim has that lean, jumpy soca pulse that keeps the bass moving without crowding the vocals, which suits the two-song setup nicely. Jab King’s “Way Up Softly” leans into the more playful side of the groove, while Gatez Greenz goes a little sharper on “Real Tricks, ” giving the project a bit of contrast without breaking the flow. DJ Desktop was already shaping a stripped-back, artist-forward soca approach here, and Quater feels like an early marker for the style he’d keep refining on later riddims like Pim Pim and Dat Is It.
