Prophet Overview

DownSound Records played a key role in shaping the reggae sound of 2009 with their work on the Prophet Riddim. The Jamaican label, founded by Josef Bogdanovich, is known for supporting both new and established artists. DownSound Records has released music from top names in reggae and dancehall, and helped launch the careers of several local acts. On the Prophet Riddim, the label brought together a strong group of artists. Capleton, a respected reggae and dancehall artist, is known for his energetic performances and hits like "Jah Jah City." On this riddim, he delivers "Head Above The Water," staying true to his roots. Jimmy Riley, a veteran singer who found fame with The Uniques and later as a solo artist, adds his song "What Did They See In You." Riley’s long career includes the hit "Love & Devotion" and collaborations with Sly & Robbie. Harry Toddler, who was once part of the Scare Dem Crew, gives the track "Pray Fi Dem." One Third, a vocal group that won the Digicel Rising Stars competition in 2006, contribute with "Memories." Magma adds "Blowing Against The Wind," bringing another layer to the riddim.
