Promise Land Riddim – CNC Music

Promise Land Riddim came out in March 2023 on CNC Music, with DubShot Records attached on the digital release, and it runs as an 11-cut reggae juggling at around the 131 BPM mark. The production is handled by Chad Simpson and Omaly Anderson, with Chad Simpson also voicing the closing version cut. The riddim sits in that sturdy modern roots lane: heavy bass, marching drums, and a straight-ahead push that gives the singers and deejays plenty of room to state their case.

The lineup mixes veteran firepower with a few less-familiar voices. Sizzla opens with “Dem No Shake Wi, ” Tarrus Riley follows with “Sissy Badness, ” and Capleton brings the combative edge on “Ano Mi Enemy Mi Fear. ” Louie Culture’s “Di Road Grimey, ” Nitty Kutchie’s “Murdah Dem, ” and Norris Man’s “Dem A Bawl” all keep that militant, streetwise tone alive. Mr G, listed here with OCG on some platforms, and Mackeehan with OCG on “Man a Lion” add more of that hard-won survival energy, while Aisha Davis’ “Only in My Head” and Phalkon’s “Miss Nelly Grand Son” bring a different cadence and a more reflective vocal presence.

What makes the release work is the contrast: the riddim is forceful enough for Capleton and Sizzla to snap over, but patient enough for Tarrus Riley’s smoother delivery and Aisha Davis’ more melodic phrasing. Chad Simpson’s version cut at the end ties it together and underlines the sound system logic behind the project.
