Lockecity Music Group’s Prayer Water Riddim arrived in 2016 as a short, roots-leaning juggling with a spiritual edge rather than a big-room dancehall push. Adrian Locke’s label had already earned a name for clean, bass-heavy productions, and here he pares things back into something airy and reflective, with soft guitar phrases, sparse percussion and a slow, meditative pull that gives the singers room to work.

The lineup is lean: Queen Ifrica’s Another Hit Song, Beenie Man and Anna Mariah on One Psalms, Lutan Fyah’s Please and Bling Dawg’s Say Dem Love Yuh. That mix of voices is part of the riddim’s strength. Queen Ifrica cuts in with the sort of conscious writing that made her one of reggae’s steadier modern voices, turning frustration with the music business into something sharp and pointed. Lutan Fyah, long associated with roots and uplift, uses the spacing in the rhythm for an anti-violence message that lands with extra weight. Beenie Man, still better known for dancehall dominance, sounds comfortably restrained alongside Anna Mariah, while Bling Dawg turns the riddim toward betrayal and bad-minded friendships.

Released as a digital set in 2016, Prayer Water feels like a small project with a clear mood and a focused cast. It does not chase pace; it asks for patience, and the songs are stronger for it.
